In the final installment of the "AI & Microsoft" series, we turn our focus to AI-enhanced analytics. Building on the insights from the previous posts on Copilot productivity enhancements (Part 1) and custom chatbot development (Part 2), this article highlights how AI technologies are revolutionizing data wrangling, analysis, and visualization to enable more powerful data driven business decisions. Now let’s dive into Microsoft’s three leading tools to accomplish this: Copilot for Power BI, Copilot for Fabric, and GitHub Copilot.
“Copilot for Power BI”: Your Data Analyst Sidekick
“Copilot for Power BI” enhances the data analysis experience by acting as an integrated chatbot within the Power BI interface, providing a unified, AI-enhanced view of data. This feature allows users to interact with their data more dynamically, offering functionalities such as report generation, report summarization, and an interactive Q&A feature directly with the data. To enable Copilot for Power BI, it needs to be activated at the tenant level in a workspace running on F64 or Premium capacity. “Copilot for Fabric”: Ultimate AI Companion for Modern Data Analytics
“Copilot for Fabric” aims to integrate AI across various components of Fabric, Microsoft’s newly released data analytics platform. By embedding Copilots within Fabric products like Data Factory, user interactions are enriched with intelligent capabilities to enhance efficiency and insight across the data lifecycle. Fabric also offers seamless integration with other Microsoft products, notably Azure AI Studio thus allowing enterprises to create chatbots on private enterprise data. Copilot for Fabric is currently available in public preview for Fabric customers.
“GitHub Copilot”: 10x Devs with AI
“GitHub Copilot” improves developers' efficiency and code quality with chatbot and autocomplete capabilities. It is primarily used as an extension in Visual Studio Code. For data analysts and engineers, it can be beneficial when writing Python notebooks for ETL tasks and data analysis. GitHub is owned by Microsoft and is available now for $10/user/month.
